14/10/09 meeting report.

A meeting attended by representatives of the VP’s, Supporter’s Club and Board was held in the club boardroom last night (14/10/09).

Members of the Supporter’s Club committee were invited to attend at our last committee meeting held on 05/10/09
The meeting was called by Club Chairman Jim Scott as a follow–up to the ‘open forum’ held previously in the clubhouse.
Seven SC committee members attended, two VP’s and two board members.
(One attendee is a VP and SC committee member)

Jim Scott thanked those in attendance and asked if anyone would like to put questions to him regarding the dismissal of team manager Jason Cadden.
Those in attendance accepted his offer.

The following is a rough outline of what transpired given Jim Scott’s natural reluctance to break any confidences associated with this delicate subject.
About 4 weeks ago certain ‘things’ were made known to the chairman regarding the playing side of Leamington FC.
After some investigation other ‘things’ also came to light and Jim Scott decided to investigate further. After interviewing members of the playing staff, and others, Jim put his findings before a meeting of board members.
Jim stresses he did not lead the board, but let each member make their own informed decision. After much deliberation a poll was conducted around the table and it was unanimously agreed to relieve Jason Cadden of the team manager’s position.
Jim Scott went to great lengths to assure last night’s meeting that the decision was taken purely for “football” reasons.
In reply to a question Jim Scott gave unequivocal assurances that no players were aware of the board’s decision prior to the away fixture at Halesowen FC.
The decision was made and the result of that game would have made no difference at all.
Jim went on to say the ‘car-park incident’ was regrettable, but he felt he had no choice either than to inform Jason Cadden of the board’s decision and that this was to be in effect forthwith. Jim explained that he and the manager had spoken on an unrelated matter, he then asked for a meeting with Jason, which the latter declined, both parties got a “bit emotional” and Jim Scott felt he had to end it there.
Further questions revealed a very ‘healthy’ list of applications for the now vacant managers job although again no details would be forthcoming as some of those applicants were still with other clubs.
Jim Scott asked all Leamington FC supporters’ to get behind the team during this trying time in the clubs history. It was said that the players are understandably feeling a bit unnerved by the recent events and could really do with a lift from the supporters. He stated that he is not looking for sympathy for himself from any quarters, but asked all to believe how difficult and soul searching this last few weeks have been for himself and all the board members.

Several SC members expressed a view that Jason Cadden should have been offered the chance to stand down if he so wished. Jim Scott disagreed with this suggestion stating that people would have still made up their own minds as to why he went.
An idea was put forward by a SC member along the lines of giving Jason a testimonial as a way of recognizing his great achievements, time, effort and loyalty to the club, it would also be an opportunity for fans to say good bye properly. Jim said they would certainly do something sometime in the future.

I can only relay the gist of the conclusion reached by the Supporter’s Club committee present, I cannot speak for the VP representatives.
By a large margin the SC members said that they respected the boards decision and understood the difficulties endured by all those involved. We also, by an equally large margin stated to Jim Scott our disagreement with the eventual sacking of Jason Cadden, and more so, by the way it was carried out.
The meeting ended on good terms all round.
